Can you make it more creative?

MinistryCOM 2010 Breakout Session

Presenter:

Katie Moon
Communications Producer/Managing Editor
Fellowship Church
Dallas/ Fort Worth, TX

Session Description:

Did you cringe a little when you read the title? If you’re an artist, you’ve probably heard that particular critique at least a few times. Everyone is looking for ways to be and stay creative. Granted there are synonyms – relevant, compelling, innovative, even jazzy – but they are called ‘creative juices’ for a reason. Whether you are an artist or a non-creative who works with artists, couldn’t we all use a Red Bull-strength dose of creative juices?

But when there is a deadline every weekend, it’s difficult enough to stay current on design trends and nearly impossible to stay inspired. All too often we end up sacrificing design for deadline and that can lead to despair and ultimately burnout.

Refueling your creativity is closer and easier than you might think. This workshop will identify ways for you to infuse creativity not only into the design process, but also into the artists and writers… even if you’re the only artist. Even staff meetings can become a catalyst for creativity, if you ask yourself: Can you make it more creative?

About the Presenter:

With 13 years experience communicating the never-changing message of Christ to an ever-changing culture, Katie Moon has seen the church communications and marketing landscape change from high-end direct mail and slick ad campaigns to grassroots community-wide efforts and the no-end-in-sight reach of social media.

She has been a part of Fellowship Church for over a decade of growth and change, from rented facilities to permanent structures, from one site to multiple satellites in multiple states. And worked with varying staff resources including freelance designers, individual designers as well as a team of full time designers and writers.

In addition to church-wide resources (i.e. the church website, weekly bulletin, and ministry brochures) some of the resources Katie has produced include: Creative Church Conference (C3) materials & magazines, small group study guides, Flavour women’s magazines.
