Exploring the Fears that Hinder Your Ministry’s Potential
Tracey Michae’l Lewis
Whether it is a secular skeptic searching for hypocrisy, an old-school legalist touting conservatism or the hip hop ministry seeking cultural relevance, everyone claims to know what is wrong with the church. The greatest (and most heated) debates in the Body of Christ are often centered around the very real challenges that the church faces. Issues like:
Appropriate tools and resources for marketing and disseminating the Gospel.
Lack of diversity that still exists in the church.
Attention to prosperity over responsibility in many ministries.
Necessity of balance between accountability and reconciliation in the church.
And yet even in spite of the validity of these discussions, there seems to be only band aid solutions offered as remedies, leaving the root and source of these issues…fear…unattended and infecting our ability to be the church “without spot, wrinkle, or blemish” that we are required to be at Christ’s return.
The Church that Fear Built will assist churches and ministry leaders in understanding the spiritual nature of fear at both the individual and organizational level and how to recognize the manifestations of it. Tracey will define fear by placing it in its proper perspective: as a spiritual matter that must be identified and dealt with in a spiritual manner. The workshop will also examine nine explicit manifestations of fear, including: The Distracted Church, The Divided Church, Insular Church, and The Ignorant Church.
