MinistryCOM Local Groups Now Forming

We’ve talked about this for a while, and now we are ready to do it! MinistryCOM will be developing local groups of church communications professionals across the US and Canada.

At this time we are looking for people who will be coordinators for each local group. As a local group coordinator your responsibility is to find host locations, schedule meetings, recruit area churches, and generally be our local contact for that group. If you like managing details and herding cats – we want you. This is not a paid position, but you already knew that.

MinistryCOM will provide the local groups with an operations plan that has worked in other locations, suggested meeting topics, and marketing support through our web site and enews.

If you don’t want to wait another year to hang out with other church communicators, this is your chance to do something about it. Help us reach more churches by reaching out locally.

Email Terrell (tsanders@ministryCOM.org) with your name and city if you are interested in coordinating a new group.

  1. I am interested in this. I would like to know a little more about what is required to be a coordinator. We have attend 3 MinistryCom conferences and have always gathered so much helpful information. Some of the questions I have are:

How much time per month do you think I would need to invest?
How often would we schedule meetings?
How large of an area would I be responsible for?
Would you guys assist in getting the word out or would that be my responsibility?

    Keep me posted. Thanks.

    Hey Michelle,

I’ll send you an email with more details, but typically a group meets once a month and serves a metropolitan area. Time investment varies, but the core involvement is scheduling meetings and email followups. Probably 1-2 hours per month minimum. We will help promote the group at the national level, but would count on you to go deeper into your geographic area.

Great idea. We already have a group of church media guys that get together semi-regularly here in my area, so this would be a natural progression. I’m interested.

  4. I recently helped put together a group of about 35-40 assorted church staff for a free workshop on using technology in outreach (mostly website stuff, some social media), and some of them want to get together again for more.

I’ve always thought if there was a MinistryCOM local group in our area I would like to get involved, but never considered helping organize . . . now I’m thinking this might be a possibility. . .
